Studying the rainforests of South America was a real treat for all of us. We created a lapbook that tells the story of many, many different kinds of plants, animals and insects. The most exciting part of the lapbook was drawing a picture of the 4 layers that exist in the rainforest. I was amazed at the detail and the enthusiasm the kids took in doing this. We pulled information from a variety of sources and borrowed some ideas from others that had already done this project. Along with this study, we read about Jim Elliott, Nate Saint and the other brave men and women that gave their lives to tell the natives about the God Who loves them. This turned out to be a favorite of my daughter, even though they didn’t enjoy watching The End of the Spear as much as they enjoyed reading the story.
